PRESS RELEASE: U-Pass Distribution
Dear UFV Students.
The outbreak of COVID-19 and its implications in our lives continue to transform the way we interact with each other and our university.
We want to share with you some interim changes that have been coordinated for the upcoming Fall semester regarding The U-PASS program; As one of the main SUS programs, The U-PASS provides assistance to all UFV students that depend on public transit to come to school, visit their doctor, groceries, work, or other tasks. The Fall 2020 SUS U-Pass distribution period will start on September 1st, 2020 at 10:00am
Interim Opt-In Program
As UFV has temporarily transitioned to an online-classes only format, The SUS has established an agreement with B.C. Transit to make the U-Pass fee an opt-in fee for those not required to attend classes on campus. This means that everyone with no on-campus components would be exempted from the U-PASS program for the Fall 2020 semester. However, if they would like to access the program they will have to request an Opt-in (see process below).
Students who are registered in a course that has an on-campus component will be assessed the mandatory UPASS fee. They may not Opt-out, unless they have a disability which prevents them to use public transit, or hold a BC Bus Pass. If you are a UFV student taking classes on campus and match this opt-out criteria, please contact info@ufvsus.ca

U-PASS Fee Fall 2020 Adjustment
For the Fall 2020 semester, the U-Pass fee will adjust to be $41.40. The fee reflects the 2019 referendum reduction of $5.37, the 2020 CPI increase and past annual CPI increases that had not been applied as per the U-PASS agreement signed by the City of Abbotsford, City of Chilliwack, District of Mission, BC Transit, the University of the Fraser Valley, and the UFV Student Union Society.
The Student Union Building.
As we begin to reopen our facilities to the public, our top priority continues to be the health and safety of our members
and our staff. The Student Union Building will gradually open in the next couple of weeks. Starting with the U-Pass
distribution on September 1st, 2020 and ultimately having the building open for our members to access it.
With the help of UFV Safety and Security, we will continue taking steps to ensure everyone’s health and safety, and
planning responsibly before making any decisions to open spaces.
Be kind, be calm, and be safe!
There are new health measures in place to allow for social distancing and sanitization. We need everyone’s cooperation
at this time to ensure we are all safe. Please be sure to follow these guidelines when you come to meet us at the SUB to
obtain your U-Pass.

any of these symptoms.

others.
• Remain a minimum of 2 meters apart at all times.
• We recommend that you wear a visor or a mask.
• There will be no access to any other areas of the SUB during this time.
