Advocacy Update

Last week, Vice President External, Ashley McDougall, went to Victoria alongside the BC Federation of Students to advocate to the provincial government and present recommendations to reduce financial barriers for students.

We met with Minster Anne Kang, Minister for Advanced Education and Skills Training, and many MLAs. Some of the recommendations we presented include: increasing funding to the BC Access Grant, increasing institutional funding for UFV, ensuring predictability for international students’ tuition fees, and reinvesting in apprenticeship counsellors on campuses.

Next, onto Ottawa this month for advocacy to the federal government!

As the official representative body of UFV students, our mission is to be an inclusive community that provides high-quality, accessible programs and services. We are the unified voice advocating on behalf of student interests in the UFV community, ensuring each student has opportunities to thrive.
