Your SUS was out at the Orientations in the lead up to the 2010-11 school year handing out swag and information on our programs - like the U-Pass and Health & Dental plan - to our newest members!
And of course having a good time meeting everyone.
We'll be out again in the first week for the Welcome Back Barbecues, handing out the pop to go with that tasty burger, plus a lot of great stuff that will make your life at UFV a little more fun, a little more successful.
Don't forget to sign up for your U-Pass - it's your ticket into the DisOrientation Festival on the Green, Sept. 23rd! Featuring Said the Whale, Whaletooth, Satori Tide, This is Franco and Stoned Moses!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
U-PASS
• Students who have never obtained a U-Pass must present their Student ID to pick up their U-Pass card.
• Students who are renewing their cards must present their old U-Pass card to have it re-stickered.
• If their card has been lost, there will be a $10 replacement fee, and cash is the only payment method.
• Students who are eligible for a UFV Student Card, but whose programs exclude them from eligibility for the U-Pass, may opt into the program by paying all SUS-related fees – the $40 U-Pass fee, $35 Student Union Building fee, and $30 Student Union membership for a total of $105. Those fees must be paid at Admissions and Records, and a copy of the receipt of payment brought to the U-Pass distribution tables.
HEALTH AND DENTAL
• Students covered by an equivalent extended health and dental plan ( such as a parent or spouse’s employee benefit package, or a plan provided by your Band Council or through Health Canada ), can opt out of the SUS Health & Dental plan, and receive a credit to your student account for the fee.
• The British Columbia Medical Services Plan ( MSP ) DOES NOT provide equivalent coverage to the SUS Health & Dental plan, and therefore students can not opt out if they are only covered by MSP.
• Acceptable proof of alternate coverage must consist of either:
- A photocopy of a certificate or card clearly indicating your coverage for extended health and dental care, the insurance company name and the policy number, OR
- A letter from the plan sponsor ( usually the employer ) or the insurance company attesting that you’re covered for supplemental health and/or dental care.
- Aboriginal students who receive health and/or dental benefits from Health Canada may use their status card as proof of other coverage.
SUS HEALTH & DENTAL PLAN SELF ENROLMENTS:
• Part-time students, students enrolled in the Bachelor of General Studies ( Police Option ) Degree, and students who are identified as having a disability and who are taking fewer than nine ( 9 ) credits aren't automatically enrolled in the SUS Health & Dental plan. They can enroll themselves in the SUS Health & Dental plan by completing the Enrolment Form and paying an additional fee ( cheque or money order only ) during the Change-of-Coverage Period.
• As SUS Health & Dental plan members, students who complete a self enrolment may also choose to enroll their spouse and/or dependants by completing the Couple/Family Enrolment forms.
Only SUS members may enroll themselves and their spouse/dependants in the SUS Health & Dental plan.
Please call or e-mail if you have any questions or concerns.

Architect Russ Chernoff ( standing ) oversaw the discussion and brainstorming at the Student Union Building design charette hosted on UFV's Abbotsford campus May 26.
The intent of the session, that brought together key stakeholders in the final design, was to guide what is the shape of the SUB, what activities the building will facilitate, even which way it will face on the Campus.
**the above image is from the information gathered for the original SUB referendum campaign, and current sketches and diagrams will be added as the SUB Project progresses
