Student Union Society Governance

The President is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Student Union, while providing strategic direction on issues, policies, and services that affect UFV students. The President is the main spokesperson for the Student Union Society and is also the chair of the UFV Student Union Society’s Board of Directors. The President acts as the primary liaison between SUS and the UFV Administration, and is consulted in the proceedings of all SUS Standing Committees.
The Vice-President Internal is responsible for the administration of all SUS Student Organizations and management of internal operations policies. The VPI is also responsible for keeping the Board informed of issues arising on campus and within the UFV community which pertain to the interest of the Society and its membership. The Vice-President Internal chairs the Standing Committee on Governance and helps the President oversee the operations of the Society.
The Vice-President Finance is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the UFV Student Union Society budget and is the Chairperson for the Standing Committee on Finance. The Vice-President Finance is to be responsible for keeping the board informed of issues regarding to the finances of the Society, and to create quarterly reports stating the current finances. The VPF works in conjunction with the SUS Financial Administrator to ensure our finances and budgeting are consistent and secure.
The Vice-President Academic is responsible for monitoring and addressing academic issues faced by the students at UFV. The Vice-President Academic is also responsible for working with local, provincial, and federal representatives on educational matters. The Vice-President Academic chairs the Standing Committee on Advocacy, and liaises with the student representatives on the UFV Senate.
The Vice-President East is to review and promote the activities of the Student Union Society on the Chilliwack campus, and act as an acting representative of our eastern region students. The VP East works to increase communication between students and the Board, and building our relationships outside of the Abbotsford campus. The VP East is co-Chair of the Standing Committee on Events, to ensure that quality events are brought to our Chilliwack students.
The Vice-President Social is responsible for planning and implementation of events and activities for the enjoyment of UFV students. This includes events on all UFV campuses, the Casey's On Campus student lounge, off campus events and more. The VP Social works to assist our student groups on planning successful events, and seeks to co-operate with UFV Student Life on this goal where possible.
